Steve Weinberger Biography

Steve is a native of the Bay Area and has lived in Sebastopol since the early 90s.  A graduate of the University of California, he is a traffic engineer by profession and an accomplished amateur chef.  For the last 20 years, Steve has put his other side of the brain into action while on his art journey.

Steve’s artistic style tends towards impressionistic with a focus on “painting iconic and disappearing landscapes.”  All of his paintings start at the inspirational source as a plein air painting, then are finished in his studio.

He has studied with a number of well known plein air artists.  Art education also takes many forms for Steve including hiking trails of the Nort h Bay and North Coast, as well as travels around Europe, and gathering inspiration along the way.  His classroom has been many of the great art galleries of Europe.

Steve has participated in a number of plein air events and competitions in the last several years.  In 2024, Steve was awarded 2nd place at the Carmel Art Festival for his rendition of some Carmel beachside Pride of Madeira.

He maintains his studio in his Sebastopol home attic, and can often be found painting Plein Air in the vineyards of Sonoma County and along the coastline from Tomales Bay in Marin County, through Bodega Bay in Sonoma County to the Mendocino Coast.
